01 Pakistan's smallest province prohibits smoking e-cigarettes in public places

The Khyber Pashtun Province in northwestern Pakistan has implemented temporary measures to ban the use of e-cigarettes, steam cigarettes, and nicotine products by the public in the Peshawar region for a period of 60 days, implying a comprehensive ban on e-cigarette devices.

The World Health Organization (WHO) lists e-cigarettes as harmful substances. Although their long-term health effects are not fully understood, they do produce toxic substances, some of which are known to cause cancer and increase the risk of heart and lung disease.

The deputy commissioner of the city stated in a notice on June 13th that "the government of Khyber Pashtun Province is required to order the following temporary measures until a complete ban on electronic cigarettes, steam cigarettes, and nicotine packs is implemented to ensure that people's health is not affected by the catastrophic effects of Peshawar."

02 EU Health Ministers consider banning e-cigarette flavoring agents

At last Friday's meeting, health ministers from all 27 EU member states will discuss proposals to restrict the use of spices in electronic cigarettes and other consumer nicotine products, including nicotine bags. Their stance may lead to stricter regulation of e-cigarettes targeting millions of European nicotine consumers.

Although the process of implementing a seasoning ban within the EU will take more than a year, the influential powers of the EU, France and Germany, clearly support seasoning restrictions, making the threat posed by the ban plan particularly severe.

If the health ministers reach a consensus on these proposals, the next step will be to request the European Commission to propose a legislative draft, which will ultimately be voted on by the Council and the European Parliament. During this process, national elections may weaken or consolidate support for seasoning bans in various countries.

Seven EU countries have passed laws prohibiting e-cigarette flavors: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. Spain has recently completed a public consultation on the proposed taste ban, and according to EU journalists, Latvia is introducing taste restriction measures.

Currently, no European country has passed a complete ban on e-cigarettes.

03 Cigarette Zyn continues to be out of stock, constantly imitated and never surpassed, and loyal fans are willing to wait

With the surge in demand, the fastest-growing nicotine product in the United States is becoming increasingly difficult to purchase, and some consumers are not satisfied with it. Its parent company was forced to stop online sales due to suspected legal litigation, which further intensified people's protest sentiment.

Zyn has been around since 2014, but over the past year, its sales have skyrocketed with a wave of online creators expressing loyalty to the product and the mention of popular podcasts like Joe Rogan and Nelk Boys.

The increase in attention has driven a sales boom: In April of this year, Philip Morris reported that the company acquired Zyn manufacturer Swedish matches for $16 billion in 2022, with shipments increasing by 80% year-on-year to 131.6 million cans. According to the industry publication Tobacco Report, Zyn currently accounts for approximately 3 out of every 4 purchases of smokeless mouth products.

A spokesperson for Philip Morris stated that the Swedish match company, which directly produces Zyn, is currently investing in expanding and diversifying its production in the United States, including increasing its capacity at its factory in Owensboro, Kentucky. The factory is still undergoing process adjustments to increase production and help ensure continuous supply. The spokesperson stated that the supply situation will continue to improve next year. Philip Morris stated that it is committed to building a new factory in the United States in 2025 for the production of Zyn.

"Almost all other brands are trying to imitate Zyn and hope to achieve the best results," loyal users said. Many of them are not doing well. The taste is too strong, the taste is unpleasant, or the quality of the nicotine bag itself is poor.
